Isn’t the active agent ambroxol in Mucoangin® the same as in Mucosolvan® cough syrup? How can it act as a decongestant and fight a sore throat at the same time?

The cough remedy Mucosolvan® reduces the need to cough, and the dissolves the sticky phlegm in the bronchial tubes. Because it is tolerated well, Mucosolvan® is very popular with young and old alike.
Like most drugs, ambroxol works in several different ways. It can numb the nerve fibres in the throat that cause the pain. Mucoangin®, in the form of lozenges with an optimal dosage of 20 mg ambroxol ensures that a sore throat is treated in the best possible way.
When the lozenge is sucked, the active agent reaches the nerve fibres in the throat that cause the pain and numbs them. This relieves the sore throat pain - fast and for at least 3 hours.
If you have further questions about usage, dosage and side effects, please read the package insert or ask your doctor and pharmacist.

Can I give my kids Mucoangin® lozenges too?

Mucoangin® lozenges are licensed for use in adults and in children aged 12 years or older.

Is Mucoangin® recommended for use during pregnancy or when breastfeeding?

Extensive clinical experience after the 28th week of pregnancy has shown no evidence of harmful effects on the foetus.
Nonetheless, the usual precautions regarding the use of drugs during pregnancy should be observed. Especially during the first trimester, the use of Mucoangin® lozenges is not recommended.
Ambroxol hydrochloride is excreted in breast milk. Although unfavourable effects on breastfed infants would not be expected, Mucoangin® lozenges are not recommended for use in nursing mothers.

Does Mucoangin® contain sugar?

Mucoangin® is essentially sugar-free. Mucoangin® Mint contains saccharin sodium as sweetener while Mucoangin® blackcurrant contains sucralose.

What risks do I run if I accidentally take Mucoangin® and Mucosolvan® together?

Because the active agent ambroxol has a broad therapeutic range and a high safety profile, serious side effects are not to be expected.
